Learn how to sail

Captain Josie, the inventor of the Sailing Wind Wheel, has been teaching beginners to sail for years through her school, Adventure Cruising and Sailing School in Florida. Her innovative ideas have led to classes on sailing for women as well as classes specifically for couples. She has dedicated herself not only to sailing but also to finding new ways to teach her students effectively. As she helped people learn how to sail she also researched how people learn. She discovered that many people are visual learners while others retain material through the use of manipulatives, but a combination of teaching styles could be used to give the most students the most benefits. She searched for training aids but only found sailing magazines and books which really did not really address the needs of students. Undeterred, she decided to create something entirely new.

Captain Josie was determined to create the ultimate sail education tool to help everyone learn how to sail. In addition to combining the benefits of educational manipulatives with visual learning, she wanted to create a tool that people could use even when they were away from class. Soon, the Sailing Wind Wheel, or SWW, was born. Her idea was instantly embraced by her students. Soon, she found other sailing classes and American sailing schools were interested in the SWW so she decided to offer it to the public.

The SSW is really the ultimate aid in sailing instruction. Visual learners will be able to take advantage of the pie chart style breakdown of the relationship between the wind and vessels. There are also instructional diagrams on the back as well as subtle visual learning clues, such as color coded port and starboard sides. Hands on learners will be able to reinforce the lessons they have learned as they adjust the ship position and move the sails to their proper positions.
