Learn to Sail with the SAILING WIND WHEEL Accelerates the Learning Curve to Understanding the Wind

About Captain Josie Longo

Captain Josie has been teaching women and couples how to sail in a safe and fun environment, since 2001. She took what she observed every day on board with couples, and started researching the gender differences to learn why he does this and she does that, differently.

Everyone learns differently. Some people are visual, some are auditory, and others are kinesthetic. Not enough people understanding the gender differences, which is bigger than people give it credit. She has watched many women blossom during her classes since she adapted her training to accommodate how women process information. While men learn in a linear fashion, women learn more relationally. If you end up with an instructor that does not know or understand how to teach these differences, then it can be a set up for failure. This is undermines women's capabilities and causes them to believe that there is something wrong with them. Unfortunately, many women will walk away convinced it is their fault, rather than the instructors inability to convey the information in a way that can be understood by women. See her book on gender differences, Two on a Boat How to Keep it Afloat.

Captain Josie, is the inventor of the Sailing Wind Wheel, has developed a new method for teaching sailing. Too often people get lost in all the "information," and show up feeling even more confused after reading the book. Now with the 2x2 Micro-Method anyone can learn the basics of sailing without opening a book. This is so much fun you will think what is all the fuss.

She has also just completed the latest book in sailing, 49 Things You Need to Know When Docking a Boat and 3 Knots. Docking is one of the most intimidating parts of learning how to handle a boat. Whether it is a power boat or a sail boat. Since most people can only retain three things in their short- term memory, it stands to reason that problems will occur, since there are so many things that need to be considered when learning to dock. Not unlike when we first learned to drive a car. After a while, it will actually become second nature. It only takes time and practice to remember all of the elements in docking. It should be habit to review the issues that will affect you to make good decisions. It only takes forgetting one thing and a chaotic docking can occur. Also, assuming your crew knows and understands what you want is a set up for disaster for both helmsman and crew. So, are there actually that many things to be considered? The answer is yes, that is why this book is laid out in a simple format to break all those components down, then it won't seem quite so overwhelming. If you have taken a docking class and still feel as if you are challenged, or you want to help your partner this is a perfect place to start.

Josie has also written the book A.C.C.T.S. of Prayer in the Psalms. This book was written while in her own personal search of who God is, and how to know Him more personally. The Psalms are full of words that describe God's true character. If you have not learned to trust Him, this is an excellent place to start. A.C.C.T.S. is a format that follows the Lords Prayer. The Lord's Prayer was not meant to be just repeated like a mantra. It was a guide or a formula for us to follow in our conversation with the Lord. A-Acknowledge, C-Confession, T-Thanksgiving & S-Supplication. The extra letter is C-Comfort. Renew your faith in God or learn to know Him better.
